Joseph Sessum B.B.A. '75 Vice President (Alumni Programs & Outreach) Given the gift of a private school education by hardworking Southern parents, Joseph L. Sessum graduated from Adelphi University with a double major and degree in Business Management and Psychology. Although he worked for two service corporations immediately upon graduation with concentrations in pharmacological products, he was impressed by society’s rapid movement into the Information Age. He entered the field of technology in 1979 at Western Union Telegraph Company, and was involved with the precursors to E-mail and Cellular phone service, handling the placement of facsimile and other office machines. In 1985, Mr. Sessum moved to Communications Consulting Services to become a technology consultant, providing microcomputer technology networking services for businesses. Mr. Sessum's developing expertise propelled him toward associations with software manufacturers, and he became an installer, certified by software companies such as Computer Associates, Insilco, Data Ease, Ashton Tate and many others. Shortly thereafter, he began work with local area, wide area networking of computers in the late 80’s. He provided solutions for businesses with customized database applications, accounting software support and consultations including business process management, to merge newly acquired technology with multiple client workstations and servers using Novell networking technology and others in a dedicated or non-dedicated networking environment. In addition, he acquired telephonic and broadband expertise during the 90's with the advent of remote communications. His company never ceases to embrace new technologies, and he currently designs solutions for group collaborations, virtual offices and next-gen solutions. These technical skills were a welcomed addition to his marketing background from university training and his days with United Airlines in the seventies. Mr. Sessum is the founder and CEO of Helpsolveit.com LLC. His firm provides business solutions for businesses throughout the world. Although his client profiles exhibit substantial girth, Sessum’s clients range from those that require only 5 computers on site, to clients such as Elektra Records, Sony America, Trish McEvoy, Salesone L.L.C., and a host of others. An accomplished black belt instructor, listed in the East Coast Martial Arts Hall of Fame and recognized in 2005 and 2007, Joseph Luther Sessum enjoys training and teaching combative martial arts, and is also a motivational speaker. He also enjoys jazz, independent film, theatre, art, foreign language, art and Latin dance, philanthropic and progressive community improvement activities, as well as acting as a mentor to adolescents and young adults.
