Purpose & Goal:
Insights & Connections is an ongoing series of networking events open to all Adelphi alumni. Usually set in a business casual environment in different local geographic locations in the tri-state area, we seek to promote alumni to alumni social and career networking. Simultaneously, we seek to provide important topical career information.
As part of the event, this career information is presented by "expert" Adelphi alumni who address the concerns and issues relating to our current troubled economy. With their knowledge and real world experience, they can provide "insights" to those in career transition, considering a job change or in fear of a pending layoff. The event is then concluded with our Center for Career Development staff discussing the services they offer to alums who are in need of career assistance/guidance.
Audience:
These programs are open to all alumni who are interested in networking and the career topic discussion, irregardless of their current job status or career path. Often, we find alums who are safe in their jobs joining us just to support the University’s efforts to provide valuable career programming for its alumni base. In these cases, these alums assist us in being a resource to other alumni by providing additional vital information. This, among the other benefits of the series, is where the "connections" comes in.
Past Insights & Connections topics include career guidance for alums in the finance industry and reinventing yourself in a difficult economy. Future event topics include insights into the future of the local and global job markets, networking "101", and advice from a corporate human resources professional.
