Student Alumni Council

Brand new for the Fall of 2017, the Office of Alumni Relations is establishing the first ever, Student Alumni Council!

The mission of the Student Alumni Council is to identify student leader to serve as counterparts of the Alumni Relations staff and to receive the added benefit of gaining an insider’s knowledge of University happenings.

Members will attend alumni relations events, such as Adelphi Spirit Weekend, special campus programs, and school and college activities throughout the year. The Council also serve as student representatives at high profile events, the Momentum Tour and the President’s Gala. Additional activities will include supporting University Advancement programs and initiatives, and professional development workshops. Student Alumni Council members will receive branded attire for events, and Student Alumni Council business cards. They will also acquire leadership experience, insider knowledge of the university, networking ventures with administration and alumni, and professional development opportunities.

Criteria for Membership:

  • Academic Requirement: 3.0 GPA and be in good judicial standing
  • Enrollment Status: Full time status and completed at least one semester at Adelphi.
  • Skills: Leadership, professionalism, and effective communication skills.
  • Campus Involvement: Participate in at least two campus organization or activities (i.e. lab research, Greek life, student organization)
  • Leadership Experience: Must hold leadership roles in activities on or off campus.

Selection Process:

  • Campus community members will complete nominations for students, which will include a narrative about the nominee’s leadership activities and why they would make a great addition to the Student Alumni Council.
  • Nominees will attend one of three group conversations.
  • Dr. Riordan will notify final members of selection.

Membership Requirements:

  • Attend and participate in three council activities (Orientation, Mid-Year Gathering, and Year End Wrap-Up).
