An American Marriage: A Love Story Torn Apart by Social Injustice

Book Cover for "An American Marriage" - a novel by Tayari Jones (author of Silver Sparrow)

Tayari Jones, author of An American Marriage and professor of English and creative writing at Emory University, will be joined in conversation by Adelphi University’s own Renaire Frierson, JD, Title IX coordinator and director of equity and compliance. Together, they will explore the journey Jones takes us on with her novel, a love story torn apart by social injustice.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERs

Tayari Jones, Author, An American Marriage
Dubbed by the Los Angeles Times “a bard of the modern South,” Jones confronts issues of race, family and criminal justice reform in her novels. An American Marriage, her latest and an instant New York Times bestseller, was an Oprah’s Book Club selection in 2018, when it also appeared on former President Barack Obama’s summer reading list and in his year-end roundup. Jones is at work on her newest novel, Old Fourth Ward, which follows a woman returning to her hometown after a tragedy.
