Laura Messano is a lecturer for the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business where she teaches Business Communications.  She earned a M.A. in Media Studies from the New School for Public Engagement in New York City. Prior to her role at Adelphi University, she worked for television networks and cable for two decades where she produced programming, managed original productions and broadcast marketing.   She has previously taught courses and workshops at Molloy College, Nassau Community College and Farmingdale State College. Messano was previously an outreach developer, recruiter and grant writer for non-profits where she had the privilege to respond to individuals and families that were suffering most from disasters.  She also had the opportunity to work on social justice issues, such as the first anti-poverty conference on Long Island that was created and hosted by Adelphi University. She also invented Flowertoppers that was featured on the Today Show.

The Leadership Certificate Program is an interdepartmental initiative hosted by the Center for Career and Professional Development, the Center for Student Involvement, the Office of Alumni Relations and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business.

Its goal is to offer Adelphi undergraduate and graduate students opportunities to develop leadership and professional skills. Participants are able to attend workshops on a wide variety of topics during the course of the year. 

Requirements for Students

To participate in the Leadership Certificate Program, you must RSVP for a minimum of six events. Each student must complete the workshops within the academic year.
